We’re long term fans of Search Meter – it’s great stuff and super useful. Thanks again for making available.

With locking down our GDPR compliance, we’re looking at all of the plugins we use.

Have you looked over your plugin to see if any data is stored that has GDPR implications? If so, could you let us know.

Looking at ‘Recent searches’ / ‘Last xxx searches’, we’ve seen the IP address is shown, so we guess stored. IP addr is defined at personal data.

If we turned the “Keep detailed information about recent searches (taken from HTTP headers)” option to Off, would that stop the IP addr data being stored?

Thanks for the message. Yes, you are correct. With “detailed information” unchecked, only the query and timestamp are stored. When it is checked we do store the IP address (and also the browser’s User-agent string, which could be construed as personal data.)

In the next update I will add a note to the UI about this issue.

Thanks for taking the time to confirm that Bennett. Much appreciated.
