• Hi
I’ve noticed that Lightbox works intermittently on Safari for iPad. Tapping on some photos in an album it works fine but on others it shows just the photo overlaid on the dimmed album page. Sometimes this will show the X at the top right to close the photo and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve cleared the cache, checked all is updated but the problem still occurs.
On an Android tablet there is a similar but different problem. Using Chrome some photos appear full screen with the description or photo name missing, other photos work fine.
    Any suggestions?

    Please answer the following questions:

    1. Do you see this behaviour on WPPA version 6.8.08.011 (current)?
    2. Did you see a difference with a previous version of WPPA with respect to this?
    3. What is your setting of Table IV-G10: Lightbox start mode mobile?
    4. Can you supply a screenshot of the wrong display on the iPad?
    5. Pls supply me a link to a page that shows the issue.

    Hi Jacob
    1: Yes
2: Not as far as I’m aware but I don’t usually have access to an iPad
    3: Padded
4: Where do I send screenshots?
5: https://www.gamlingayphotos.co.uk/school-groups-1941-1960/ but it happens intermittently on all similar pages. Some thumbnails on a page work OK, others don’t.

    Thanx for the screenshots.
    Three more questions:
    1. If you rotate the iPad to portrait and back again to landscape mode, does that correct the layout?
    2. In the case it works properly, do you still see the browserheader with title bar etc?
    3. Set Table IV-G10 to ‘normal’, try again and press the outgoing 4 arraow button (go to full screen). Does this work ok? (It looks that the device does not always go to fullscreen mode properly).
Sorry for all those questions, I have no iPad too, and Safari for windows is no longer available.

Rotating the iPad has no effect.
Have set Table IV-G10 to ‘normal’ & tried again.
With either setting the problem is still there & you are correct – even when lightbox works normally the full screen button doesn’t work correctly & gives the same result as in the screen shots.

There is also an issue on an Android tablet.
With Table IV-G10 set to ‘padded’ tapping on a thumbnail, more often than not displays the photo full screen with just the Exit symbol showing, however no description or title appears. Also there is often a significant delay (5 seconds+) when the screen is black, before displaying the full screen photo. If I change the setting to ‘normal’ then on the Android it seems to work as expected.

Back to the iPad: Setting Table IV-G10 to ‘normal I’m now having difficulty finding a thumbnail that doesn’t display Lightbox correctly but tapping on the full screen button gives the same effect as in the screenshots.!

The main problem I’m having is that it seems to be intermittent. Sometimes both the iPad & Android tablets work correctly & sometimes not. The worst kind of problem!

The ‘padded’ or other non-‘normal’ settings do not display the subtext anyway. That is how it is designed. In fullscreen mode (either ‘padded’, ‘stetched’, ‘clipped’ or ‘realsize’ i.e. not ‘normal’) the screen should be filled entirely – at least with the blackish background – without the browser header.
To my opinion, safari does not want to go to fullscreen.
Could it be possible that the ipad has a setting to prevent fullscreen (for security reasons)?

So, to eliminate Safari I installed Chrome on the iPad. The results are much the same. I’ll email you the screenshots

The full-screen button seems to be the biggest problem. Is there an setting that will remove it?
Also setting Table IV-G10 to ‘normal’ is less problematic than ‘padded’.

    Please try https://betatest.opajaap.nl/test-page/
Just to make sure it is – what i think – ‘just’ a timing issue.
If https://betatest.opajaap.nl/test-page/ has the same problem on your device, i can change timings in it to test if it will work then.

OK, I tested the page with both Safari & Chrome on the iPad & I think you’re correct: timing issue.
On both browsers some of the images opened correctly into Lightbox & tapping the full screen button gives the result as in my original screenshots. Some of the images bypassed Lightbox & went straight to the faulty full screen.

I will change it on my dev site and after that i will ask you to retry.
