updating is catastrophic
-
I used to be a pro subscriber and every time I updated, something in the update would interfere with another plugin. I would spend two days trying to figure it out. So, I downgraded to free not because the plugin is expensive, but the time I waste trying to fix what shouldn’t break is worth much more to me.
Recently I updated the free version. It promptly crashed my site, showing me a 500 error. I was not even able to access my WP dashboard. I had to delete the plugins via FTP to restore my site to working order. Today, I downloaded version 3.0.5 and activated it per instructions, clearing caches and all that. It doesn’t work at all the way I want. First, it adds the share buttons to the bottom of pages and posts even though I have “None/manual placement” selected in the global settings. Second, the floating buttons do not appear, although I have chosen “On.” Third, there are no “manual” settings on the pages to turn off and on “manually” as the global setting field implies there should be. Forth, it adds a blank line in my navigation, shifting my website design down a line-space.
I will add that when Social Warfare works, it works well and is stable. I just wish “improvements” did not wreck that balance.
