WP 2.7.1 fresh install – dashboard broken graphic links

    WP user level: newbie
    host: hostgator.com
    type: shared server
    installer: fantastico

    I have an existing WP 2.7.1 install on my server – everything is running perfect
    Created 2 new URL’s yesterday 0900 GMT -5 @ namecheap.com – and pointed to my hostgator nameservers – no problem
    Installed WP – went to my URL’s – both sites parse just fine with WP, except a broken link in the header image on banner – using the “classic” theme

    When logged in as admin to both sites dashboards I have broken graphic links – especially in the “QuickPress” panel – even after I close, open QuickPress panel the broken graphic links for posting images, movies, etc are still showing as “?” for the graphics.

    The broken graphic links also continued when I uploaded my IThemes.com (Flexx Theme) – broken graphic links showed up in the Flexx panel for frame selection, and Flexx theme preview when selecting a new theme for the site.

    I deleted the WP install, and reinstalled – problem persists.

    I would greatly appreciate any pointers, thoughts, suggestions.

  • When you uploaded the files, did you use an FTP program like FileZilla or Coffee Cup? If so, did you set the file transfer type as “ASCII”? It should be set as “auto”.

    Doodlebee – Thank you, I’m using CyberDuck 3.1.2 on Mac 10.5.6
    Oooops – CyberDuck prefs were set to binary, not ASCII – my server is linux – language was set to UTF-8
    Thank you – I will delete and re-upload and give it a whirl.
