I recently changed my backup type from TarGz to ZIP. But when I did so, the backups began to fail. They seem to fail on trying to create a backup archive. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? Here are the relevant log entries:

So that works fine when you select TarGz as the backup archive?
In this case, I think this problem could be related to your hosting environment ??

OK thanks for that. But can you be any more specific? What about the hosting environment might be causing the issue? I am willing to run some troubleshooting tests. But what should I change?

What about the hosting environment might be causing the issue – I’m not sure about what hosting environment might causing this issue, but in my experiment, sometimes users report that zip archive didn’t work and they found out that using another archive type like TarGzip or Tar works.

anyway, let’s try to check down the problem, please enable debug log ( BackWPUp -> Settings -> Logs -> Logging Level -> Debug(not translated ) ), run the job again and give me latest log file at BackWpUp -> Logs.

Sorry for the late reply. Some things came up. I hope we can continue the troubleshooting.

I have enabled the debug log, per your instructions, and initiated another backup. Let’s give it some time to complete. Then i will share the log file here.

    Thanks.

The log file has some personal info (e.g. Dropbox name, email address, etc). Is there a secure place I can send/post it?

    Thanks.

@duongcuong96 do you think we can revisit troubleshooting sometime soon?

Sorry, my delay in response, was busy with the next release ??
you can post the log file in here and remove your Dropbox name, email and other sensitive data ??

OK. Here is a pastebin of the most recent log file, which is essentially identical to all the other recently failed backup attempts.

could you please try to upgrade to latest BWP version and then try again?
    Thanks!

Hi guys. I have the same problem (and with the latest version of plugin too).
I’ve tried a lot of different settings (and 25s too) of max execution time, but every time I have the same error.
This happens when I use .zip file as backup.
When I try to use .tar file I don’t have such error but I have some warnings about file names (because of restrictions of archive type) and it takes 5-7 times more time to do backup then the zip-backup earlier when it worked.
    Can you help, please?

    (@cag8f)

@duongcuong96 OK I updated to the latest version and tried a manual backup. The same issue occurred (pastebin of log).
