I’m probably missing something very simple, yet following the 5 minute installation instructions.

I have attempted at least 6 times now and get the same results.

Install all files to server, edit the wp-config-sample.php file and save as wp-config.php

Run the /wp-admin/install.php – Log into WP with the temp password

After that you should be able to go to ‘Profile’ to change the password.

Yet it serves the Index files as seen below:

    Index of /wordpress

I can log into the dashboard through wordpress/wp-admin/users.php and change the password, themes, etc, etc

Yet it continues to serve only the Index files when you enter Domain name or click preview in the dashboard after making changes.

I have flushed the mysql data base after each attempt of all previous installation files, and even tried downloading another fresh copy of WP 2.7 from WP site & Restart Server & MYSQL after each attempt.

Yet it seems WordPress doesn’t want to serve anything but the Index files.

My other blog gave me fits with the same problem, but after several attempts it finally worked & it runs just fine & Yes I am assigning different table_prefix’s to each blog.

Any Clues on what I am missing?

  • if on a linux server add this to the .htaccess
    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm

if on a windows server you need to configure it to handle index.php for directories

Thanks samboll, figured I was forgetting something simple.

I remember doing that to get the other blog running, amazing the simple stuff always seems to bite me.
