Keep selected language when visitor come back

So is there a way to keep selected language when visitor come back to the website.

Let’s say i have default language english and when visitor first visit website he will open mywebsite.url and there is drop down select in menu so he can change language.

So he switch to german language in dropdown and continue to surf website in german language.

But if he leave website and come back again, he will browse website again on english and he need to go again in dropdown menu and select german.

Is there a way to set cookie and remember selected language choice so every next time he visit website, website will be on german language selected automatically?
