  • If you have phpmyadmin, it’s very easy.
    1. Change directory name
    2. Using phpmyadmin, browse the ‘wp-options’ table
    3. In that table, find ‘site_url’ and ‘home’ – change the address there.
    4. That’s it ??
Do be careful with phpmyadmin though – it’s powerful stuff.

    Yeah, I have Cheers!

Can’t find this ‘home’ in the table :/

    Works, though.

‘home’ is in wp_options – you’ll need to find it at some point, but if you get any wierdness with the blog referencing the old url, that’s it.
It’s option_id 100 – do a Search using the tab at the top for ‘home’

    Bad Idea !!!!
Scripts are pointing to old locations.
I can view the page, but the login won’t work. I’m guessing it’s trying to open to wordpress instead of the new name.

    Oh, it was 105 for me. :}

Wonder if I can do the same for my phpBB2 Forum?
I left that at it’s default too. phpBB2

So it all works now ?

with your phpbb forum, use the search function again and try changing all the values
    BUT
Do take care – don’t shout at me if it falls apart ! ??

    Yeah Baby !!
    Double Cheers!

Obviously, I’d backup the database first. ??

if you don’t mind reinstalling just change the name of the folder right after you upload and before you run the install. then specify the folder as the install location.

Just wanted to thank you guys for these older posts…I just updated from 1.0.2 to 1.2 mingus and I wanted to change my folder from ‘WordPress-1.0.2’ to simply WordPress. The phpmyadmin rules worked perfectly….Kudos!
    ciao!
