• Hi guys,

Over the last few days my sticky side button plugin has started acting strangely. Unfortunately I cannot post a link to the page for privacy reasons. I have one sticky button on the left of the page that links to an email log in page, the other day I needed to change this link, which is a simple enough task but I noticed that after I changed the link and saved the changes they did not upload to the live site for some reason?

I have tried various things that have been suggested by other users with similar problems such as de-activating and re-activating the plugin and after that I also deleted and re-installed the plugin, none of which did anything.

After re-creating the button it now appears like this —-> https://ibb.co/dOW2px
Normally without hovering over the button, all you can see is the envelope but it is backwards now.

The live site also has not changed at all since I made any of these changes, it still displays the broken link.

If I can provide any other details to help please just let me know, or if anyone has any suggestions or ideas I am happy to hear them.

    Thanks

I’m sorry but without being able to see the issue it’s extremely hard to offer any useful advice.

Can you post some screenshots showing the issue?

I can give some generic advice…
    – try clearing your computer’s cache
    – try disabling all other plugins and switching to default theme for testing
^ Does the issue still persist after doing these two things?

    Hi Maeve,

Thanks for the reply, yes I know it would be helpful with the actual site but unfortunately I cannot release this as per client instruction.

Im not sure what has happened as over the past few weeks there has been no updates done to plugin, no new plugins installed and wordpress has not been updated.

I have cleared cache and there was no change. I will start disabling other plugins as you suggested to see if that makes a difference.

The strange thing is that the changes I have made are visable when I am logged into wordpress and view the site from there but if I log out and try none of the changes are registered?

https://imgbb.com/ This ss shows what I can see when logged in to WP, which has the working link but the text is on the wrong side of the button.

https://ibb.co/duAZKx This one is what I can see on the live site, this button is functioning normally like it always has but is directing to a broken link.

I’ve not seen either of those problems before so unfortunately I can’t guess at what the problem might be here. Sorry!

I would suggest to check the error console, and try the isolation testing as mentioned earlier (disable everything else and use default theme to see if this is a conflict with some other code running on your site)

You should also check for caching plugins, cdn like cloudflare etc.
And of course, update to the latest version of WordPress core and Sticky Side . Buttons plugin.
