• I’d like to use a specific plugin for a contact form. However, I found that WP's get_page_template function automatically loads wp-content/themes/(theme name)/page-contact.php when the page’s url is “/contact”. So the theme’s contact form is displayed on the page, and I can’t find any option to disable it. What is the most common solution to disable the unwanted contact form in cases like this?

  • you can rename page-contact.php file or simply if you dont want it then delete the file, in this way the page /contact will use page.php of your theme.

Thank you. If I do so, will I have to delete the file every time the theme is updated?

If on update, that file comes again in your theme folder then yes, you need to rename or delete it.
