Can there be no assigned author?

    Is it possible to have the “assigned author” field empty?

    My site users submit screenshots, small stories, or fanart from a game, and then one of the moderators tidies up the formatting before publishing it. I’d like the post author to be whichever moderator changed the post, but even if we changed the “author” field in the post, the published version shows whoever the “assigned author” is.

    Glad to help. No it is not possible to leave the Assigned Author field empty. But based on what you describe, this looks like a bug. Author name should change respective of the “Author” setting on the “Edit Post” screen. So will investigate and get this fixed in the next plugin update.     Just to follow up with this, the next version of the plugin adds a new option to disable the “replace author” functionality. The option is called “Disable Replace Author”, here is a summary:

    • When option disabled: post author will be replaced by the submitted username
    • When option enabled: post author will be the “assigned author”, unless selected otherwise via the Author menu on the “Edit Post” screen
