• I have uploaded fresh versions of WordPress (which works) and then upload the Atahualpa theme. When I try to switch to that theme in the dashboard, all WordPress pages come up blank (index, control panel, theme selector, etc.) Which also means I cannot go back and unselect the Atahualpa theme; I have to delete and then re-load WP to get it to function again. Three times now.
I am not a programmer by any stretch, but have used/modified WP for the last few years. I have no idea what’s going on here.
    Any thoughts?
FYI, the blog should be here (everything is still loaded)

  • That’s why you have Preview, so you don’t activate a non-functional theme.

It’s likely due to an extra folder in the download…

Structure should look like this once placed on your webspace…

    /wp-content/themes/THE_THEME/

Sometimes themes come piled with other things and you end up with…

    /wp-content/themes/THE_THEME/THE_THEME

    Which of course doesn’t work..

Sorry, wasn’t clear. I click on image of the theme (which has brought up the preview in the past, I’m savvy with that) and that is when everything comes up empty.
And there are no extra folders.

Your theme folder is incomplete – your stylesheet is not in the (proper) folder. As t31os pointed out – theme theme must be in the proper folder structure and all files in the archive for the theme uploaded there.

So your structure should look like this:

    /wp-content/themes/default
                       /classic
                       /Atahualpa/images

You’d think theme developers would be aware of this *sigh* and not create extra folder structures in the downloads, simply keep the archive as it should be then offer any extras as an additional ‘extra’ download…

Had that happen with one or two themes i downloaded to try, fortunately i know what to expect and how to fix the issue, but not everyone does..

    @t31os:

The theme extracts as a folder “atahualpa” and that folder needs to be uploaded to /wp-content/themes/ so that you end up with /wp-content/themes/atahualpa/. No “extra folder structures” here

At least we know it’s not the theme download… ??

Thanks for the clarification Bytes… ??
