It’s just amazing!

  • HyperDB is a amazing feature.

    • You want to make two websites share a (user) table? OK!
    • You want to make a website use two databases so we can create a development workflow to “deploy” content in the same time we persist production data? OK!
    • And so on…

    Of course is unnecessary to talk about how it can help in scaling… Just perfect.

  • Mário … How’s your install with HyperDB working? Any issues? Would I be able to use it on a shared server (hosting)? How the heck do you back up the database(s) with this thing active?
    Any insights would be appreciated.

    Yes, you can use in shared server: it’s just a PHP class to manage database connection. Of course, don’t worth the enforce if the database is in shared server too, because when you create more than one database, it’s generally the same resource.

    And about backup, there’s on you. You can do the regular backup planning.
    For example, if you write in one database and the others are just a mirror, I guess backing up the writable db is enough.
