    Hello,

I am unable to receive pingbacks on my blog. I can receive trackbacks and I can also post to my my blog using a weblog client. So xml_rpc works though pingbacks use http post. I can also send pingbacks to other blogs.

From the xmlrpc.log I can see my blog receiving the pingbacks. I can also see the pingback being POSTed to xmlrpc.php in my access log. The only thing that doesn’t seem to happen is wp-cron doesn’t run after receiving the pingback.

I know wp-cron works because I’ve scheduled posts in the past as well it runs for my trackbacks and for the weblog posting.

I’ve also checked my database to make sure the data wasn’t being saved and just not published. I’ve disabled all the plugins and reverted to the default theme without success.

I’m hosting the blog on my own server. I’ve checked /etc/host settings and everything is fine. I’ve completely open the firewall without success. I checked and there aren’t any security modules loaded in apache. I read somewhere that xmlrpc.php requires curl support which my php didn’t have. I updated php to include curl support. Pingbacks still don’t work.

I’ve run out of ideas at this point. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Regards,

For anyone else out there I resolved this issue. I always had xml-rpc protocol enabled but I never enabled had Atom publishing enabled. Once I enabled Atom I was able to receive pingbacks. During this entire issue I never found any documentation suggesting you need to enable atom publishing. Can anyone point in the direction of some ?
