Adding category description to top of a page

Hi,

I’m using the travelify theme and i’ve started using category descriptions.
I’m using some shortcode to list all child categories of the specified parent category, on a page.

I’d like to have the parent category description to show at the top of this page.

I see there is already a function to display category descriptions on the category page (terms_description), but I dont’ know how to tap into this and display it. I’ve created a custom page template to modify some other options. Not sure how to achieve this though.
