• Newbie here and a little confused about blog “membership”.

Is membership basically a function to have a means to contact your readership?

“WordPress for Dummies” recommends that Users must be registered to leave comments (in order to help prevent spam).

However, when a user registers, they also get access to the Dashboard (with limited functionality) BUT I’d rather they didn’t have that, as I see no need for it.

Is there a way to remove the Dashboard button from the admin page a user gets access to when they register?

Is there a plugin that gives a better way to register? Maybe I’m just not clear why the Dashboard is important to the general public?

Thanks for an explanation of what this is all about!
