Recreating or linking inadvertantly moved posts
-
Hello all – a partner’s “computer whiz kid” decided to change the publish date on some blog posts. Of course, that changed the permalink for all of the posts as well. We recently started some article and video marketing, linking directly to those certain posts which are no longer there.
Our blog is just starting, so it isn’t the end of the world, but I’m wondering if there is an easy way to solve this problem within WordPress. I can spell WordPress, but that is about it. Some of the thoughts I’ve had are:
1. Create symbolic links at the shell level (I’m an old Unix hack so this came to mind first, but don’t think my host allows it)
2. Copy each of the posts and save with the original post date (two copies of each post, obviously isn’t ideal)
3. Change the dates back to how they used to be (fixes most of the posts that we were linking to in our article/video marketing but then breaks the posts with the new dates that that have been recently indexed and are starting to be linked to).
Again…I know this is a minor issue, but I’m trying to learn WordPress slowly and surely so I can be self-sufficient someday. Something tells me there is an obvious solution, but I’m too braindead to see it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Scott
P.S. Must be late, I accidentally registered with my email address for my username, so I’m reposting under a proper username.
