You provide free items to users to download? Like you may provide free plugins, themes, UI kits, html templates or any other digital product. so, why don’t you make a email building list? This plugin will help you to collect email address from your users. When you users will want to download, they will need to provide an email address and the downlaod link will be sent to that user’s email. This way, that user can’t provide a wrong email address. The download link will be expired on 24 hours, though this is totally configurable.

Installation

Way 1:
1. Download the plugin file
2. Unzip the file into a folder on your hard drive
3. Upload via FTP into your plugins (/wp-content/plugins/) folder
4. Activate the plugin from your dashboard

Way 2:
1. From Dashboard > Plugins > Add New > Upload the plugin
2. Activate the plugin

How to use
1. Use ShortCode builder in the editor to put a shortcode for download.
2. Add your downloadable product in Dashboard > ETD Download section.
3. Check ETD Download > Settings for email templates and other settings.
4. Check ETD Download > Subscribers to see a list of all email addresses.
5. If you have EDD installed too, add the following code in your wp-config.php:
define( ‘ED_DOWNLOAD_PAGE_SLUG’, ‘ANY SLUG HERE’ );
6. If you want to change the slug later, use the above code, deactivate the plugin, activate again. Then flush permalink again.

Same problem – keeps asking me to select a file during shortcode insert process

I’m surprised the devs haven’t addressed this yet. Devs?! You need to test your plugin more thoroughly – this doesn’t work for some users. Other users have reported the same problem. I’m using Chrome on a Mac. Please address the issue or you’re just going to keep getting more negative reviews.

Upload file not working

It seems to be a very easy to use plug in… the easier out there. BUT the “upload file” btn is not working. It’s been a day and I haven’t had feedback from support. Hope they fix that soon.

Wasted 2 days trying to figure out how to make it work and: 1. This plugin will not generate link to your file unless its latin alphabet “download post name” and latin alphabet “file name” – otherwise it will simply send email that leads to your “expiry page” 2. “From email” and “From name” is a standard “wordpress” – no option to change it. So you either insert piece of code into your functions.php or use another plugin 3. You have to find slider.php or whatever option you want to use and amend this file directly if you want to change the wording of all messages – no options for that in dashboard panel 4. But the worst part is – once you have it all setup – it will send email with a link to your file – you click on it and guess what – the doc file will be weird html copy of your website ?? I have never seen coding like that. If you serve doc/docx file this file will have name and extension as your “download file” but the file that you will actually download is a doc version of your html home page WTF ?? Long from now, to make this plugin works. Good luck
