Remove Page Load Lag

  • I was working on the theme for my girlfriend’s site. The page displays fine, but there is a delay in the loading of the page. The background, header image, and text load instantly, but there is a split second to a couple seconds delay where the white background of the main content doesn’t appear and the text is unreadable on the body background.

    Is there a way to reduce or remove this lag in the loading? I prefer not to wait until all the content is done loading and then display, because then you’re stuck waiting for the whole page to load.

    Since you don’t have any huge graphic elements to load, the problem is probably the ads. You’re calling those from a different server, so there isn’t much you can do to speed it up. With an Alexa ranking of 8,410,204, those ads aren’t going to make any money, so you might as well dump them.

    You’re absolutely right about the ads. Thanks. The ads do cover the cost of the site and it’s part of some community of bloggers my girlfriend belongs to, so I’d rather not delete them. Is there any way to force the ads in a widget to load last?
