WordPress 5.4 is currently scheduled to be released\u00a0on\u00a0<strong>March 31, 2020<\/strong>, but we need\u00a0<em>your<\/em>\u00a0help to get there\u2014if you haven\u2019t tried 5.4 yet,\u00a0<strong>now is the time<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two ways to test the WordPress 5.4 release candidate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Try the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/wordpress-beta-tester\/\">WordPress Beta Tester<\/a>\u00a0plugin (choose the \u201cbleeding edge nightlies\u201d option)<\/li><li>Or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/wordpress-5.4-RC1.zip\">download the release candidate here<\/a>\u00a0(zip).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s in WordPress 5.4?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>WordPress 5.4 has lots of refinements to polish the developer experience. To keep up, subscribe to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/\">Make WordPress Core blog<\/a>&nbsp;and pay special attention to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/tag\/5-4+dev-notes\/\">developer notes<\/a>&nbsp;tag for updates on those and other changes that could affect your products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plugin and Theme Developers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please test your plugins and themes against WordPress 5.4 and update the\u00a0<em>Tested up to<\/em>\u00a0version in the readme file to 5.4. If you find compatibility problems, please be sure to post to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/forum\/alphabeta\/\">support forums<\/a>\u00a0so we can figure those out before the final release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0WordPress 5.4 Field Guide\u00a0will be published within the next 24 hours with a more detailed dive into the major changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Help<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you speak a language other than English?\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/translate.wordpress.org\/projects\/wp\/dev\">Help us translate WordPress into more than 100 languages!<\/a>\u00a0This release also marks the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/polyglots\/handbook\/glossary\/#hard-freeze\">hard string freeze<\/a>\u00a0point of the 5.4 release schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>If you think you\u2019ve found a bug<\/strong>, you can post to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/forum\/alphabeta\">Alpha\/Beta area<\/a>&nbsp;in the support forums.
