WordPress 4.9.6 included a feature to delete a user’s personal data\nupon verified request. Deleted data is permanently removed from the\ndatabase. Erasure requests cannot be reversed after they have been\nconfirmed.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Erase Personal Data tool does not remove the data from\nbackups or archive files: When using the tool alongside automated\nbackups or archives, we advise you to exercise caution when restoring\nuser data from backups. When restoring an archived copy of your site,\nyour requests for erasure should be respected.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: As this tool ONLY gathers data from WordPress and\nparticipating plugins, you may need to go beyond to comply with delete\nrequests.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using Erase Personal Data tool<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Basic Usage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Erase Personal Data tool uses email validation to send a user’s request to an administrator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Select Tools<\/strong> -> Erase Personal Data<\/strong> from Administration Screens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Specify Username or email address and click Send Request<\/strong>.
If Confirmation request initiated successfully, the request will be shown in below table and Status<\/strong> will be Pending<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

User will receive the following mail titled ‘[<site_name>] Confirm Action: Erase Personal Data’.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. If user click link in the mail, below dialog box is shown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the Status of Request will be changed to Confirmed<\/em>, and Next Steps<\/strong> shows Erase Personal Data<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Click Erase Personal Data<\/strong>.
Status<\/strong> will be changed to Completed<\/em>, and Next Steps<\/strong> displays Remove request<\/strong> button.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notice: There are no confirmation prompt. Clicking the button means erasing the data.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Click Remove request<\/strong>. The request will be removed.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notice: There are no ‘Trash’ status such as Posts’.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forcing of Erasing Personal Data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can force to erase Personal Data from popup menu Force Erase Personal Data<\/strong>.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Move mouse cursor on the Requester’s mail address in the Requester Table.<\/li>
  2. Click Force Erase Personal Data<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Status of Request will be changed to Completed<\/em>, and Next Steps<\/strong> shows Remove request<\/strong> button.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Notice: Even in the Pending<\/em> status, you can force to erase Personal Data.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Filtering Request<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    You can filter requests by Status or Requester’s mail address.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To Filter by Status\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Click All<\/strong>, Pending<\/strong>, Confirmed<\/strong>, Failed<\/strong> and Completed<\/strong> above Requester Table.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      To Filter by Requester’s email address\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Insert full or part of email address in the box above Requester Table, and Click Search Results<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Removing Request<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        You can get rid of request from Requester Table. It does not remove Personal Data.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Select checkbox of the Request that you want to remove.<\/li>
        2. Select Remove<\/strong> from Bulk Actions<\/strong> dropdown box and click Apply<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Resending the mail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
          1. Select checkbox of the Request that you want to resend the mail.<\/li>
          2. Select Resend email<\/strong> from Bulk Actions<\/strong> dropdown box and click Apply<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            Erased Personal Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
